My stay at Stay Sakura Kyoto Fuga had its highs and lows. While I appreciated the spacious room and the helpfulness of the staff, I found some cleanliness issues and the location a bit off-putting. Overall, it could be a good option for those looking for apartment-style living, but there’s room for improvement.

Rooms
6.0
The twin room with extra bed was spacious and comfortable, but the cleanliness could have been much better. I noticed stains on the sofa and dust on the bedheads. It was nice to have a kitchenette, but a few amenities like more kitchen tools could enhance the experience.
Service
7.0
The staff at the hotel were polite and helpful. However, I did miss some Japanese hospitality touches that usually elevate a stay. They arranged shuttle vans that were efficient, but the lack of reception during check-in time was a bit inconvenient.
Location
6.0
The location felt a bit sketchy, being back in an alley, which made me uncomfortable at times. It's also a bit far from popular attractions, although it was quiet.
Dining
8.0
I enjoyed the Korean restaurant nearby, which was a nice culinary find. Small dishes there were good, adding a nice touch to my overall experience.
Facilities
7.0
The apartment-style facility was a pleasant change from standard hotel rooms. Having a kitchenette and more space made my stay more enjoyable, even if the lighting could have been better.

5.6/10

My stay at Stay Sakura Kyoto Fuga was quite enjoyable, with a few notable highlights and minor drawbacks. The kitchenette in my room was incredibly handy, allowing me to prepare meals easily. However, the location, while quiet, was a bit far from the main attractions, and the beds were harder than I expected (though I learned that's typical in Japan). Overall, it was a comfortable and pleasant experience.

Rooms
9.0
The Twin Room with Extra Bed was spacious enough for two people and our luggage. I really appreciated the kitchenette, which included a pan and a kettle (perfect for reheating meals). Although the beds were on the firm side, the pillows were nice and plump. There were a few cleanliness issues initially, but the staff was responsive once I reported it.
Service
9.0
The staff at the hotel were generally polite and helpful, and they spoke enough English to assist me throughout my stay. When I had an issue with the sheets in my room, they promptly provided clean ones the next day. Plus, they even brought my Amazon deliveries to my room, which was a really nice touch.
Location
7.0
The hotel is located around a 20-minute walk from Kyoto's main station, which I found to be a bit of a trek after long days of exploring. While it was nice to stay in a quieter area, being further from dining options and public transport meant I had to plan my outings carefully. There are two JR stations and a subway station nearby, but having a local transit card was necessary, as my JR pass didn't cover them.
Dining
6.0
While there wasn't a wide selection of food options nearby, I appreciated having a kitchenette to prepare my meals. The free coffee machine in the lobby was a nice perk, though I would have loved the option of tea (not everyone is a coffee drinker!). Overall, the dining situation was adequate, but not particularly exciting.
Facilities
8.0
The kitchenette was definitely a highlight, equipped with essential items like a kettle and cooking pot. I found the room to be quite functional with nice décor (it had a local vibe that I loved!). However, I did notice that the headboard needed a bit of dusting, which suggests some attention to detail could be improved.

7.2/10

I had a mixed experience at Stay Sakura Kyoto Fuga. While the room was spacious and had useful amenities like a kitchenette and washing machine, the location was a bit far from the main attractions, and some basic services were lacking. The staff were helpful, but I expected a bit more from the hospitality side of things.

Rooms
6.0
The room was large and well-designed, featuring a kitchenette with basic cooking utensils and a washing machine, which made my stay comfortable. However, the bed setup was not ideal, as I had a sofa bed with an additional futon that was longer and uncomfortable to sleep on.
Service
6.0
The staff were good English speakers and helpful at the Guest Service Centre and hotel reception, but I didn't experience that warm Japanese hospitality I was hoping for.
Location
6.0
The location was decent, with a Family Mart right next door, but it was a long walk to the nearest subway station, about 10 minutes away, which made getting around a bit of a hassle.
Dining
7.0
I didn't dine much at the hotel, but being close to restaurants nearby was convenient, and I appreciated the free coffee available.
Facilities
6.0
The facilities were generally good with almost complete amenities. I enjoyed the spaciousness of the room, but I did find it dusty upon arrival, and there was no luggage forwarding service.

I had a pretty good stay at the Stay Sakura Kyoto Fuga. The room was clean and spacious, with super comfy beds and a nice little balcony to enjoy the fresh air. However, it did get a bit noisy at times, and the lack of breakfast options was a bit of a bummer.

Rooms
9.0
My room was spacious and well-equipped, featuring a kitchen area with basic utensils and plenty of closet space. It was also nice to have separate areas for the bathroom and shower, making it easier to get ready in the morning.
Service
8.0
The staff were friendly and spoke good English, which made it easier to get around and ask for help. They even arranged a couple of shuttle vans for my travel plans.
Location
7.5
Location was decent, close to various train stations, but not much to do in the immediate area. The hundreds of red arches are nearby, which was great for sightseeing.
Dining
6.0
No breakfast options were available, and the dining setup was minimal, with just a coffee machine and vending machine in the reception area.
Facilities
7.5
Overall, the facilities were okay. There was a washing machine and a functional kitchen. However, the lack of basic instructions for the washing machine and some kitchen utensils could be improved.

I had a pleasant stay at Stay Sakura Kyoto Fuga, with clean rooms and comfortable beds. but the location was a bit removed from main attractions. The amenities were mostly good, though the dining options nearby were limited. Overall, it offered a calm environment after a day of exploring.

Rooms
7.0
The rooms were of a good size and mostly clean, though the headboard could use a dusting. I appreciated having small kitchen facilities, like a kettle and pots, which made my stay more comfortable.
Service
8.0
The staff was nice and spoke good English, which helped with communication. However, I did notice a small issue with the locking of the door between my room and the next, which made me feel a bit uneasy.
Location
6.0
The hotel is situated in a quiet neighborhood, providing a peaceful retreat after a busy day. However, it’s quite a walk from the train station, and local transport options could be confusing. especially for those with a JR Pass.
Dining
5.0
I found the dining options around the hotel were somewhat limited. While they offered free coffee, I really missed having tea available during my stay.
Facilities
7.0
The common area was quite nice, and I enjoyed the shower and bath, which felt like a mini onsen. but the overall lighting could be improved, as it felt a bit too dark in the evenings.
